Create vintage style in a small space

Having a compact living room doesn’t mean it can’t be ultra-stylish. Use these clever tricks to bring the latest look into your small space.

1.    Make use of your wall space by hanging small, framed family photos and mirrors from pretty picture hooks for an eye-catching feature.

2.    Don’t fill every inch with clutter and leave some parts of the room clear – such as the area under the console table. Being able to see through to the wall beyond makes the room appear larger.

3.    Edit your cushion collection as an over-accessorised sofa could make the room look crowded. Aim to mix three luxurious or embellished cushions with two plainer ones for a balanced look.

4.    Group small accessories together, such as vintage glassware and simple pots, for a neat arrangement that will add interest to surfaces.

5.    Choose extra-long curtains that pool on the floor, as these will make the ceiling of your room appear higher than it is, and in turn make the room feel more airy and spacious.
