Decorator's tip - Display mix-and-match china
Add colour and character to your room with a collection of pretty china. Create a fabulous display in three easy steps.
1) Start by choosing two colours to complement your scheme. We've used pastel pink and green. The pieces of china you display don't have to match perfectly, but look for tonal shades that work together.
2) Mix up plains and different patterns. As long as your pieces have the same colour base, you can combine polka dots, stripes, checks and small motifs for a casual, country look. For a more formal style, choose fine china with elegant designs, such as painted birds or flowers, toile prints or plain pieces with gold trim.
3) Put your collection on show. If you don't have a dresser, hang plates as wall art, or put a parade of jugs along a mantel in decreasing size order. Cups and saucers look pretty lined up on a shelf and can even be used as mini planters. Or, try hanging cups and mugs from hooks screwed to the underside of a shelf or wall cupboard for a space-saving display.
