Final countdown for CORGI
Only a few days left until Gas Safe Register replaces the well-known authority
The time is almost here. As of 1st April, Gas Safe Register will be the new name and the official stamp for gas safety in Great Britain and will replace the CORGI gas register.
From this date, only Gas Safe Register engineers should be employed to carry out work on gas boilers, appliances, etc. - CORGI gas registration will not be valid. However, it will remain the official registration authority for Northern Ireland, Channel Isles and Isle of Man.
The register warns that if someone other than a Gas Safe Register engineer carries out gas work at your home, you could be risking the safety of your family and your property.
Finding a registered engineer couldn't be easier. From 1st April, you'll be able to find an engineer in your area online. Visit www.gassaferegister.co.uk or call 0800 408 5500, and remember to check their Gas Safe Register ID card before they begin the work.
