Getting started

Thread your machine using the instructions – most problems are caused by misthreading – then spend some time getting to know it, trying out different stitches on different weights of fabric.

Hold on to the top and bobbin threads before you start to sew – this prevents them from getting caught underneath, and when you’ve finished, always pull the fabric out backwards to avoid putting strain on the needle.

Before you put it away, cover your machine with its case or a fabric cover as dust will soon stop the workings.
