How can we find a sofa to suit us both?

My husband and I are completely different heights; he's 6ft 3in to my 5ft 1in. Can you recommend a sofa that would be comfortable for us both?

My husband and I are completely different heights; he's 6ft 3in to my 5ft 1in. Can you recommend a sofa that would be comfortable for us both? Any furniture company that adjusts seat depth and back height will advise you on this. Nick Loxton at Leather Chairs of Bath, would nominate the Lansdown, a sofa in the historic Howard style. It's a deep sofa, comfortable for the long-legged, but the back has feather-filled bags fixed to a sprung back, making it ideal for the smaller person to curl up on.

If you are buying two sofas, the other approach is to have 5cm taken off the seat depth of one of them. This won't compromise the appearance but will make a difference to your degree of comfort as the shorter person. Wesley Barrell, makes size adjustments, and suggests its Hinton as the design that adapts best to people of unequal height. It has a deep seat and a firm, fixed back, but additional loose cushions will provide support for the shorter person
