Whether downloaded or on CD, these gadgets will help you enjoy your music.
iPod docks
Apple's portable music player has revolutionised the way we listen to and, indeed, own music, and this is being integrated into our homes with iPod speaker docks and all-in-one devices. There are dozens of docks, ranging from £20 to £500. Many include CD players and radios, but look for models that charge your music player and allow you to control it via a remote. Most docks are designed for Apple iPods but, if you own another brand of dock, you will be able to connect it using a cable and socket.
Wireless streaming
The latest gadgets can help stream your music (take it from your computer to play on a different device) all over the house. There are two main types: stand-alone systems, including speakers and media adapters that plug into and use your existing stereo. Each has a receiver that plugs into your wireless broadband box and a controller that lets you access the music from your computer's hard drive. Music streaming devices are reliant on your wireless signal so, if your computer is far away from the speakers, it may struggle with a connection.
Wi-Fi radios
Internet or Wi-Fi radios use your broadband connection to search the internet for thousands of radio stations, offering crystal-clear reception and even the option of pausing and rewinding live programmes.
Right: Vita R2i A gorgeous understated iPod dock complete with DAB, DAB+ (pause/rewind live digital radio) and FM stereo, plus a fantastic remote control that slots neatly in the top. From £279.99.
