How to make a tea cosy

Get thrifty and create a pretty tea cosy with a simple embroidered lavender motif

To make your tea cosy you will need -

* Dressmaker’s pattern paper

* 50cm tartan fabric (we used Lomond Tartan, ref E5880/04, £79 a metre, Osborne & Little)

* 50cm lining fabric

* 50cm polyester wadding

* Offcut of linen for embroidered panel

* Non-permanent fabric marker pen

* Embroidery thread in light green, dark green, purple and lilac

* Tacking thread

* Offcut of contrast fabric for piping and trim (we used Islay, ref ISL013, col Lichen, from £46 a metre, The Isle Mill)

* Piping cord

* Matching thread
