How to use pattern on your floor

Swirly carpet is back, but we're not talking 1970s style. This look is very now and very easy on the eye.

A classic example is the featured carpet - Toile Papillon Black Broadloom, Classic Florals range, £56per sq m, Brintons.

GET THE LOOK

Fabric Make sure your fabric patterns have a similar motif to your carpet. Here, a trailing floral or botanical print is perfect.

Paint Use a neutral wall colour - anything boldly coloured will make the room look dated.
