How to make a buttoned lampshade

Measuring up

Step 1) Remove the lampshade from the lamp base and measure around the bottom edge of the shade. Divide this measurement by the number of buttons you want to use.

Step 2) Use a fabric marker pen to mark dots at these intervals all around your shade, making sure that the buttons will not hang below the bottom edge of the shade where they might be easily knocked (see illustration).
