Step 1) Cut one main and one reverse piece of fabric to one-and-a-half times the width of your window plus 5cm and to your chosen length plus 5cm (you may have to join widths depending on the size of your window and the width of your fabrics).
Step 2) Right sides facing and matching raw edges, pin all round the four edges of the curtain and lay it out flat wherever you have room.
Step 3) Measure around 20cm down from the top edge and run a line of basting stitches diagonally from one side edge to the top edge of the curtain. Repeat at 20cm intervals until you reach the bottom of the curtain. Then repeat, working from top to bottom this time on the opposite diagonal (see illustration). Remove pins.
