Beds - a buyer's guide

We've listed the top tips to consider before buying a bed

Price and size of beds

* Price – Always shop for the best value not the lowest price. Beds at the lower end of the price spectrum may be perfectly acceptable but the better built a bed is, the more support it will offer and the longer it will last.

* Size – Being disturbed by a sleeping partner is one of the most common complaints, says The Sleep Council. A larger bed then means you are less likely to disturb your partner. The guidelines are that your bed should be 10-15cm longer than the tallest partner and that you should be able to lie side by side, with your arms behind your head and your elbows out, without touching.
