Water efficiency

With water efficiency a hot topic, carefully chosen fittings are key. ‘The average person uses 150-160 litres of water per day, 63 per cent of that in the bathroom,’ says Tony Rheinberg, marketing manager for Armitage Shanks. But you don’t have to sacrifice your morning shower to save precious water.

Hansgrohe and Deva have developed systems that mix air into water for a luxurious, bubbly shower – great for wooing buyers and reducing water flow by up to 50 per cent.

In cloakrooms, sensor taps add a high-tech edge and ensure you use the minimum of water to wash hands. Flow limiters fitted to taps will cut water wastage, and with regulations stating a maximum six litre flush capacity, dual-flush loos are a must. Look for the Bathroom Manufacturers Association’s water efficient labelling scheme when choosing products.
