Work with a colour theme

article : Work with a colour theme

How to construct a scheme around a colour

Decorating with pattern is a challenging but exciting way to create a truly individual scheme. Follow the basic principles and learn how to use contrasting designs for an interior that reflects your confidence and self expression

Allow one strong monochrome pattern, such as this bold turquoise window dressing, to take the lead in a room and use complementary patterns in the same palette as restrained accents. Don't feel compelled to match the blues perfectly, but choose a variety of shades that sit well together for a fresh, contemporary look.

HOW TO MAKE IT WORK

•White gives colour and pattern a chance to "breathe". By keeping the walls, flooring and sofas neutral you are able to use patterns in the same colour for window treatments, cushions and occasional chairs.

•Enhance the theme with glass accessories in contemporary shades.

•Additional furniture can be painted in soft tones of your chosen colour.
