Wallpaper trends for 2010

Feature walls
If you're not sure about wallpapering an entire room, opt for a feature wall instead.
Make a statement with textured wallpaper, embrace the trend for jewel tones or be daring with metallic accessories.
'Feature walls will continue as a way of getting pattern into schemes,' says Peter Thwaites, Rapture & Wright.
'Patterns will get larger and rather than paint as the contrast, it will be a sympathetic texture or even a coordinating wallpaper.'
* Textured wallpaper
Textured wallpaper adds opulence and warmth to walls, from painted silks to padded leather. We love the Brewers range (pictured), £22.99 per roll, from wallpaperdirect.co.uk.
'Quality heavyweight vinyls with leather, stone or wood effect designs will be big in 2010; they provide a perfect backdrop to a contemporary room,' says Melanie Adams, Wallcoverings Manager at wallpaperdirect.co.uk. 'This image shows a stunning off-white leather design with a padded effect.'
* Jewel tones
Combine jewel tones such as teal or emerald with orange or mustard for a vibrant, striking effect or set off the tones with metallic accents.
'If your room is small consider papering one wall in a jewel shade for a striking feature and add highlights throughout the room with your accessories,' says Melanie. 'Alternatively, for a truly indulgent look, mix with soft furnishings in sumptuous fabrics such as silk or velvet.'
