As well as being used to finish wood and wood-veneer doors, lacquer is also added to MDF doors to create lacquered cabinetry.
The door is undercoated and then sprayed with layers of lacquer varnish. It has to be applied with care and the process is more time-consuming than that of other finishes, something that's reflected in the cost.
Hi-gloss styles have an extreme sheen, but there are matt options, too. Colour choices are numerous, and it's a protective and enduring coating.
