Where should I look for a large Georgian-style wardrobe?
Can you help me find a large wardrobe, up to 2.5m wide, with matching bedside tables that will work with a Georgian mahogany chest?
AS, Marden, Kent.
You might consider the Louis-Philippe three-door wardrobe (pictured) in acacia wood by Willis & Gambier, which costs £1,829. This is 175.5cm wide and offers full-height hanging space occupying two thirds of the interior, a half-length hanging rail for jackets and shirts, and a stack of four drawers in the remaining third. There is also a two-door version of this wardrobe with a full-width hanging rail and shelf; it measures 117cm wide and costs around £1,119. A pair of these would give you more hanging-rail space than you have now. Another example is the mahogany three-door Belgravia wardrobe by Frank Hudson, which is 195cm wide and costs around £2,975. Hanging space extends to the full width of the interior and there are three drawers. Finally, the 396B linen press from Bylaw, which is 218cm wide, or larger to order, has a full-width hanging rail, three doors and six drawers in the base. The top three drawers have false fronts, leaving extra depth behind for longer garments to hang. This wardrobe is in cherry, which can be stained and polished to match your chest, and costs from £6,275. All three companies have bedside tables to match their wardrobes.
