Flooring

Opting for something beautiful underfoot will instantly add to the appeal of your home. Installing uniform flooring throughout the house or a chic new floor in problem areas is a good idea, and buyers are still wooed by well restored, exposed floorboards.

Wood and stone not only look gorgeous but will last far longer than many man-made materials. If you choose reclaimed or locally sourced stone or salvaged boards, or wood collected from a sustainably managed forest, you can up your floor’s eco credentials too. Bamboo is also a good option, as is cork, natural rubber, natural linoleum and Marmoleum, which is 100 per cent biodegradable.

Underfloor heating adds a touch of luxe, radiating warmth up through the floor, and, as it operates at a lower temperature than conventional radiators, is an environmentally sound option.
