Diana Blanchard of Blanchard UK, has discovered the lustre of paper-backed silks and metallics: “For a long time, silk wallcovering had to be battened onto walls. Now we use hand-painted, paper-backed silk – it’s still expensive but can be hung like wallpaper and has the same sheen. We also use metallic papers from Brian Yates (pictured) and Stereo. We recently did quite a dark study, and the bronze Stereo paper just glows when you turn on the desk lamp.”
