Halloween party ideas
From Halloween decorations to Halloween costumes and Halloween food, our great ideas guarantee a ghoulish Halloween party. Here's how to get started
Set the mood Get your guests in the spirit before the party starts, with a pumpkin invitation. They'll be on offer in the supermarkets (buy one get one free is common) so buy one for each household you've invited. Attach the invite to the pumpkin with strict instructions that only guests with carved pumpkins will be admitted. On the day of the party your house will look fantastic with the spooky glow of all those pumpkins.
Dress to impress Dressing up is half the fun so, as the host, make sure you set the standard. You can buy a great selection of costumes, face paints and accessories from Just for Fun, including skeletons, vampires, psychos, witches and werewolves (in both big and little kids sizes!). An adult vampire outfit, complete with cape, costs from just £18.99. Be prepared for some party-poopers who haven't dressed to impress, by having a basket of fake teeth, hats and masks by the door for them to choose from.
On the menu Whether you're having a sit down meal or just a buffet, you can have plenty of fun with Halloween food. Remember to give scary names to all the menu items, and write them on name cards to help set the mood. Twiglets make great bony fingers, and add some spicy salsa for a gruesome-looking dip. Potions to try, (for adult's-only drinks), include a 'Grim and Tonic', which is simply green food colouring in a gin and tonic. Mulled wine served hot from a cauldron is always popular, and remember, it's a potion, not a drink!
