We loved the eerie, abandoned feel of the Rococco ballroom

Housetohome were whisked off to the eerie and darkly atmospheric heritage rooms last week for an evening of drama, mystique and intrigue. And some rather good cocktails.

Run by Courvoisier, the event was billed as an immersive theatrical experience where guests were invited to discover the mythical Grand Institute of Cocktails which had been frozen in time.

It was a great opportunity to explore the beautiful heritage rooms in Bloomsbury square, champagne cocktail in hand. From the richly scented spice room through to the New Orleans apothecary the interiors were out of this world.

We were inspired by the grand but derilict ballroom which had an abandoned Miss Haversham vibe, with thick cobwebs draped over glittering chandeliers and gold plates heaped with uneaten food. A bit much for every day perhaps, but perfect for a spooky Halloween party.
