Our delightful dolly peg fairy will certainly cast a magical spell over your Christmas proceedings - or why not make one as a gift for a friend? We've created a pretty gold version but you can make one to suit your scheme by changing the colour of her skirts and bodice.

What you'll need
Wooden dolly peg, £1.99 pack of 12, Hobbycraft
Cristal scalloped-edge tulle favours in Ivory, £2.99 for 25, Cameo Favours
Gold crepe paper, 69p pack, Hobbycraft
Scraps of braid, ribbon and wool
Gold butterfly, 35p, Hobbycraft
Sequin flower and star (try Hobbycraft)
1 Take two of the tulle favours and fold into quarters. Snip a small hole at the point. Open out and poke the dolly peg through and fix with double-sided tape. Cut a 20cm x 8cm piece of gold crepe paper. Add a second piece of double-sided tape around the tulle skirt waistband, stick the edge of the crepe paper to it and wrap around the waistband, gathering the top of the paper as you go.
2 Cut a piece of gold braid for the fairy's bodice and stick around the peg above her skirt. Glue on a ribbon belt and trim her bodice with a sequin flower. Then glue the butterfly to the back of the peg for wings.
3 Brush the head with PVA glue and wind wool around to form hair, adding more glue if needed. Glue a sequin to the wool. Finally, draw on a face.
