Ever wondered what goes on in Elizabeth Hurley's bedroom? Housetohome's Channel Editor Vicky managed to snag an exclusive interview with Elizabeth at the launch of her new bed linen range. Read on to see what inspires her, what her bedroom looks like and what she'd like to design next.
What is your bedroom like?
I like exotic stuff, I don’t like it all too boring and bland so I like the Persian Lime bedding, that's what I've got on my bed right now. My bedroom is white and I have a dark wood four poster bed with very nice white muslin drapes with tiny little bobbles on.
What motivated you to design an interiors range?
Because I travel so much my home has always been a real sanctuary for me. My favourite room of the house has always been my bedroom and it's where I spend most of my time. We spend a third of our lives in bed so i've always taken a lot of care over my bed linen and what goes into my bedroom.
Which country has inspired you the most?
I think probably India. Some of the patterns on this collection we took from some panels of marble fretwork that i've got at home. So probably exotic India and a little bit of Morocco; i've collected Moroccan textiles for years and i've got some beauties but i've got some beautiful things from Rajastan as well.
Any plans for the next collection?
I think we will always stay in the sensual, exotic range but we are definitely going to visit more colours and we might do some darker ones too so there's a lot of scope. Interestingly i've been asking people what they like - I thought they'd all like white bed linen but very far from it; they love the colours.
Are you going to branch out into accessories for the rest of the home?
Well if I went anywhere i'd like to go into table decoration because I like beautiful napkins, runners, placemats; I love everything that makes a table look beautiful. As well as spending a third of my life in bed I probably spend another third eating and I just love it if you go to someone's house and their table looks gorgeous.
The Elizabeth Hurley bed linen collection is available at House of Fraser.
