RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show showcases six wives of Henry VIII gardens

Each of Henry's wives was treated to their own garden at this year's show

As this year is the 500th anniversary of Henry’s coronation, six designers were challenged to create gardens capturing the essence of each of famous six wives.

The results were striking - from Anne Boleyn's 'Garden for a Witch' to Jane Seymour's cool and composed garden with icy-pale flowers and Katherine Howards girly, teenage-inspired design, complete with bubbling fountain.

Pictured is the ‘Katherine of Aragon’ garden, which certainly makes a statement. Boxed in by light-wood fencing, a portrait of the queen overlooks pink heart-shaped beds and vibrant purple flowers.

To see the other gardens fit for queens, visit our Garden gallery, and for information behind the gardens, take a look at the RHS website.
