Soaring house prices teamed with sinking salaries have made it nearly impossible for young people to get a foot on the property ladder. But one young couple have found an ingenious way around the problem by turning an old double decker bus into a bijou home.

Unable to secure a mortgage to buy his first home, Daniel Bond, 28, a self employed electrician, spent £11,000 buying and converting an old bus he found on eBay into a quirky house for himself and his girlfriend Stacey Drinkwater, 20.

The enterprising electrician has managed to squeeze a double bedroom, twin bedroom, kitchen, TV lounge, bar, toilet and bathroom into the compact space. As he explained to The Mirror 'it feels like an ordinary house, you completely forget that it is a real bus.'

With full plumbing and mains electricity the compact home has all the mod cons for a fraction of the market price for a two bed home. The kitchen even has a hob, cooker, fridge and sink with running water.
