Coromandel is a long-established company specializing in exclusive hand-embroidered crewel based on Elizabethan and Jacobean designs. Our crewels come in a range of naturals and multicoloureds and our handlooms beautifully complement the crewel, providing the most suitable lining or a cheaper alternative to use with crewel. Established in 1978, Coromandel is one of the most experienced importers of crewel. We aim to provide clients with natural, elegant and luxurious fabrics which will add an instant and timeless appeal to any design scheme. We offer a competent service with a high regard for detail, ensuring prompt dispatch of returnable samples or swatches and orders to all clients.COROMANDEL CREWEL is commissioned in specific designs reflecting its early English heritage. The Multicoloured designs feature carefully selected tones, which are particularly stunning in juxtaposition with original features such as wood paneling, stonework or oak beams. The Naturals combine classic simplicity and elegance with texture and originality. Given a hidden dimension at certain times of day, when suffused with sunlight filtering through the embroidery, the cream on cream fabrics are extremely versatile, working well in both traditional and modern schemes. Our crewel consists of 100% wool hand-embroidery on 100% handloom cotton and, as customers become increasingly aware of environmental impact, it provides a natural and cost-effective alternative to mass-produced, synthetic and chemically treated fabrics.COROMANDEL HANDLOOMS complement our crewel and have the same natural feel as linen. Used in combination with the embroidered fabric, they provide an economical alternative to schemes using just crewel and they also provide a sympathetically textured luxury lining or backing fabric for cushions and sofas.COROMANDEL FINISHED PRODUCTS include hand-crafted furniture such as stools, linen baskets, waste paper bins and lampshades as well as hand-finished soft furnishings. The range is aimed at producing luxury items which will provide an instant talking point in a room whilst also being of some practical use. Our Bespoke service also offers the possibility of commissioning a one-off piece not listed in any of our fabrics.
