Set up by longtime friends, Summerill & Bishop first opened its doors in May 1994. Spending a lot of time in their kitchens, June and Bernadette decided to create a kitchen shop, selling only the things they liked and would have in their own home. Governed by the simple notion that the kitchen is at the heart of every home, and sharing a passion for family life, cooking and entertaining, their shop truly reflects this philosophy.
The combination of modern and old which June and Bernadette discover on their relentless quest for imaginative and stylish products makes the shop a wonderful and stimulating environment. Each item has been carefully selected, taken into consideration the beauty of its form and function.
Sourced from France, Italy, Belgium, England, South Africa, Germany and the Middle East Summerill & Bishop sell pieces that are not mass produced, often hand crafted and cannot easily be found elsewhere. Brands sold at the shop include: Staub, Laguiole, Cote Bastide, Libeco, Fog Linen Work and Astier de Villatte.
The shop has been quoted by both Tricia Guild of Designers Guild, Ruth Rogers of The River Cafe and Fashion Designer Bruce Oldfield as their favourite kitchen shop.
