Opt for an organic means of slug control, such as Growing Success Advanced Slug Killer

I have giant slugs. What can I do to get rid of them?

Encouraging a healthy ecosystem with natural predators such as frogs, toads and ground beetles helps keep slug numbers down. Also try sinking beer-filled jam jars into your beds for an effective slug trap; empty and replace the beer regularly. Copper slug rings placed around young vegetable plants or copper tape wrapped around the outside of pots works too. Another option is to go into your garden on a mild, damp night and hunt for slugs by torchlight, dropping them into a container of salt water. For biological control, try Nemaslug, from Harrod Horticultural from £8.95. If you must use slug pellets, buy organic ones based on ferric phosphate, such as Growing Success Advanced Slug Killer (pictured), £2.95, also from Harrod Horticultural.
