A monochrome scheme is softened with the use of brown in the furnishings in this open-plan living area. The owners had planned to keep the original fireplace to save money, but the builders took it out by mistake, so they chose a simple contemporary one from LivingStyle to replace it that both blends in and creates a calming focal point to the living area. Underfloor heating was laid under the tiles to keep the big open-plan area warm. The sofa came from DFS.
