Finding a place to live in Aberdeenshire

The old adage, 'It's grim up North' is laughably irrelevant to the smug residents of Aberdeenshire, which was ranked as the best rural place to live in Scotland.

According to a survey by the Bank of Scotland, the benefits of a rugged country lifestyle means that the people living there earn more money and perform better in school than anywhere else north of the border.

With a small population spread out over the Highlands and along the North Sea coastline, towns like Peterhead and Fraserburgh can offer a unique way of life that has all but disappeared from the rest of Britain. No wonder the residents have the highest average life expectancy in the country.
