21. Winchester, Hampshire

Location, Location, Location's Kirsty and Phil are constantly banging on about Winchester's many assets.

For starters, the residents are amongst the highest earners in the UK and as a result the place is rammed with excellent schools, hospitals and all the benefits of country living, including a minuscule crime rate and a long life-expectancy.

It's a breeze to get to London, Brighton and the North - you can get to Waterloo in under an hour - but council tax prices are cheaper than some London boroughs. With all that in mind, you might expect a town full of retired accountants but over 60% of the 110,000 strong population are under 49.

Average house price: £346,680
