Glass maribowl by Iittala

Every design classic needs a champion, and Iittala's pressed-glass goblet found its kindred spirit in Armi Ratia, founder of funky floral fabric company Marimekko. Iittala had been reliably producing these cute goblets with minimal fuss when they caught the eye of Ms Ratia. In between kickstarting trends, Armi used to hold legendary parties at her summer villa that lasted for days. The great and the good of the Finnish art world gathered to eat, drink, exchange ideas, the drink a bit more, and were served treats in these dainty dishes. Ratia collaborated with noble Nordic glass house Iittala to suggest a wider colour palette based on fruit, flowers and her textiles.

The dazzling array of 20 jewel shades, from Apple Green to Plum, secured the Maribowl's collector status, all thanks to Armi Ratia's ability to combine creativity with partying - a talent we heartily applaud.
