Create a pretty guest bedroom in 5 steps
Create a guest bedroom for your home that feels like a welcome retreat for friends and family and reflects a thoughtful attention to detail. It is a good idea to think about an overall theme for the room that will not date too quickly and can be freshened up with a few accessories.
There is a fantastic range of bedroom wallpaper available and a floral design is a great option as it has a timeless classic appeal. A blue and white theme looks fresh and clean and is a great backdrop to a white wooden double bed with majestic headboard. Adorn the bed with simple white bed linen overlaid with woollen throws and quilts for chilly winter nights, or if your guests feel the cold. A selection of complementing scatter cushions resting against plump white pillows will add invite guests to put their feet up and relax during the day.
Choose simple white wooden bedside tables and adorn with vintage-style bedroom table lamps with pretty lampshades for a shabby chic touch. A sprig of flowers in a simple vase will add to the floral theme, you could even opt for some faux flowers that last all year.
At the base of the bed an occasional stool/seating area is a very effective use of space. — allowing a guest to sit if their partner is in bed and acting as a great area to put reading material such as books and magazines.
Another effective and welcoming idea is to lay out a tray with a teapot and biscuits or a morning breakfast to make your family and friends enjoy a relaxing start to the day. A lovely simple but effective idea is to marry the crockery and tray in complementing colours to the guest room.
