How to decorate with reds, purples and pinks
Bright reds
Why: These colours have a reputation for being bold, bright and modern, but don’t be scared: they look stunning when used in moderation, too.
How:
- Desperate to be daring, but nervous about applying colour? Consider going all-out in a small space, such as a cloakroom, first. White fittings will calm your scheme, and your jitters.
- Apply exotic flavours with hot pink, zesty orange and bright white. Be careful not to go overboard in large rooms, though - match smaller zones of blocked colour with a white scheme to maintain a cool facade.
- Team classic pillar-box red with cream and warm oak for a timeless look.
Top tip: Dark wood furniture, as well as textural fabrics and woven accents, help break up intense expanses of strong colour.
