10 things to do in the garden in June
Grow lupins
This favourite for the cottage garden will add structure to borders and make a colourful, long-lasting cut flower.
Lupins are very undemanding plants and will benefit from a sunny spot. Protect young plants from slugs with a copper ring pushed into the ground, and add a mulch of compost or woodchip in winter if you live in a cooler area. Cut away spent blooms this month to get a further flush of flowers.
